Mr M, has been rather busy with this load of timber.
He and big boy travelled out to a friends farm and collected the timber.
They have spit the big logs and sanded them smooth.
Then oiled them.
Look at the gorgeous red gum.
Isn't it beautiful.
They are going to be used at our kids primary school.
Mr M has been busy drawing up a garden design and part of it will include these gorgeous pieces of timber.
Each one will have a metal stirrups and legs attached to deter white ants and will be set into concrete.
Our Principal says there is evidence that there is a link between the amount of seating and bullying.
The more seating, the less bullying.
I should have asked him for a link to the research.
Fascinating!
I'll show you when they are in place.
What beautiful timber! I look forward to seeing the end result :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting about the bullying and seat connection. I wonder how that works?
i HAVE NEVER HEARD THAT ABOUT SEATING. PERHAPS KIDS LOOK MORE LOST AND VULNERABLE WANDERING AROUND THAN SITTING. OR BULLIES ARE AMBLING AROUND LOOKING FOR TROUBLE...???
ReplyDeleteTHAT WOOD LOOKS GORGEOUS OILED.
Great job Mr B and Big boy. Those school kids are very lucky.
ReplyDeleteI can see the relevance behind the Principals statement. Working as a TA in a primary school I witnessed children jostling for a position on available seating and watched with dismay when the ones that just weren't quick enough were left somewhat stranded in nowheresville and feeling vulnerable.
Have a great day Deb.
xx
That is beautiful wood, what a wonderful job your husband did. I love everything about wood, especially the way it smells. Love your blog and look forward to reading more posts. Have a great day :)

ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you and your husband are being proactive in supporting your son's school! Three cheers for both of you!
ReplyDeleteThe seats will be stunning too. Red gum reminds me of being home on the farm ;o)
Wow! That wood is amazing, it will make awesome seating! Good on you for getting involved with making the playground even better! X
ReplyDeleteThese will make beautiful benches!
ReplyDeleteThese are going to be so lovely...wish we had some in our school yard. What a lot of work! What a blessing your husband is.
ReplyDeleteHappy day to you. xoxo
MOTH the resident Pyromaniac would have had these burning in a heartbeat Deb. I'm so glad you don't live closer for him to get his grubby fingers onto this gorgeous timber. Great job Male Moerks.
ReplyDeleteMillie xx
