New chooks

Hello, what a week it has been.
Meet Martha, she is the guardian of the chook pen.
She sits on top of the premium (that's another word for expensive) chook food.
She also guards the gate.
We hope her terracotta eggs will spur the girls on to become prolific egg layers.

And these ladies, are our 3 new chooks.
the one at the front is called "muesli", the others remain unnamed.
Sadly, we started with four, and I won't go into details, but, a certain fluffy puppy is in major disgrace!

Here they are all eating some grain.
Or should I say Pepper and Salt, the two silkies are eating and the newbies, Isa browns are waiting.

These two chooks are top of the pecking order at present with the darker one, Pepper being the bossiest.

They are slowly settling in.
We have a bit more work to do to bring their accommodation up to standard.
Nesting boxes are the next thing on the list to do.

The kids have had a great time visiting them, picking them up and talking to them.

I can't wait until we get our first egg.
Don't worry, you will see it!

Thank you so much for all your facebook love.
I have still not quite got it right.
I will try and sort it this weekend.
or,
I may delete the lot,
and start all over again.
