Kitchen dissillusion

We went out to dinner the other night.  Had a great night BUT we were sitting next to a lovely man who was a cabinet maker specializing in kitchens.

I held back as long as I could.  Waited until he had had sufficient quantities of red wine.

Then started peppering him with questions.

What sort of bench tops does he think last the best? (composite)

What his opinion on undermounted sinks? (not good, haven for germs)

Were my vinyl wrap cupboards a poor choice 13 years ago? (duh of course)

So many of my plans for my next kitchen were shattered.

I think a second opinion might be in order.

In the meantime this one via BHG is lovely eye candy.

The one where he tries to melt the kitchen

I came home from squash the other night ( and yes, thanks for asking I did have a win and so far all body parts are still functioning).

To find a lovely candlelit glow emanating from the kitchen.

Mr M had made a hanging key ball. (not sure about the chain, but that's probably another discussion)

There were two of these dangling beautifully casting lovely shadows against the kitchen tiles along with the smell of hot plastic.

So picture the scene,

Hubby relaxing by the tv, wife walks in,

drops squash gear says, referring to the key balls, "they are pretty"

quickly followed by

"shit, they are melting the cupboard @#$@&%

Hubby leaps up in disbelief followed by shock.

grabs the sticky tape, blows out the candle and proceeds to tape up the offending melted plastic.

Wife heads to the shower and goes to bed.

The next day hubby quietly peels off the sticky tape to reveal the damage.

If you didn't know it was there,

you wouldn't know.

Problem is,

I know it's there.

Better sell lots of balls Mr M,

I may need a new kitchen soon!

Does anyone else think these lights look upside down?

I love the kitchen with the subway tiles, the bench and I am also liking the neutral walls.
The chairs I like, but the lights????


Is it just me, or do they look upside down?


Just letting you know, I played 2 matches of squash last night, that means 8 games. I know, that is too many, I am too old. My butt is tight now, imagine what it will be like by 4 o'clock this afternoon!


I am telling myself it was good for me. Anyway,

home part 4 - the end

Hi sorry I missed a day.

I had to pop down to Melbourne.

Sadly there was no shopping time but, I went to a very worthwhile forum.

Are you sighing over the loveliness of this kitchen?

I am.

And the blue and white china.

Very big sigh..

It gets really cold in Ballarat in Winter so this stove would be fabulous.

Well that is that for this beautiful house.

It just seems to be comfy and unpretentious.

A real family home.

I found it all on Homelife.

There are lots of interesting homes in the galleries over there.

Kitchen of my dreams

It is entirely possible that I have been watching too many episodes of Escape to the Country.

Because, when I saw this kitchen over at Modern Country Style.

I seriously thought, I had died and gone to Kitchen heaven.

I can see Allistar (from Escape to the country)striding through, pointing out the flagstones and the wonderful red aga out to keen buyers who are trying to restrain themselves and not appear too eager.

It's Friday night, the kids are home from school.

I have decided what is for dinner.

I have just put my slippers and trackky dacks on.

I think I will hop on the couch and have a little read of the Women's Day and see all those lovely Royal Wedding photos, one more time!
