Kings Park

We loved Perth. We were very excited to be in civilization, shops, traffic, a cabin with walls that didn't move.

High on the list of things to do was a visit to Kings Park.

Higher on the list was a visit to David Jones, Myer, Kathmandu and the Sushi place.
Having been for some retail therapy, I could relax and enjoy the park.

See, buildings, coffee shops.

The flowers were amazing.

Kangaroo paws, these were magnificent.

Drifts of everlasting daisies.

And sunny, happy yellow flowers.

Strange weird lumpy bits....

These limestone pinnacles were strange, a bit kind or eery.....

Kind of like visiting an alien landscape.

A step back in time.

These eery photos are taken in a National Trust building in the town of Greenough.
They are taken in the kitchen next to these.

Creepy!

We wandered around the old township.

It made me long for my washing machine.

My oven.

A shower without wearing thongs.

And my own comfy bed.

How lucky we are to have modern creature comforts.

Sydney II Memorial

645 lives were lost when the HMAS Sydney II was sunk off the coast of Quobba.
The wreck lies in 2.485 metres of water.

Geraldton is home to a very moving memorial.

Beachside blogging.

Here we are at Kalbarri.

Time for a little beachside blogging while the boys fish.

Then a touristy trip to the National Park.
Groans from the children, "not another gorge".

A family photo at Natures Window.

Wildflowers by the side of the road on the way to Geraldton.

Monkey Mia, beyond the dolphins.

We weren't sure what to expect at Monkey Mia.

Peaceful blue water.

Pretty good cake and coffee.

Hordes of people wanting to feed the dolphins.

Hordes of dolphins wanting to be fed.

Fortunately they only feed 5 dolphins, family members of the original dolphins to be fed at Monkey Mia.

The rest have to catch their own fish and frolick around for our entertainment.

Denham Shark Bay

This is raggeddy old us camping at Denham in Shark Bay. The white stuff on the ground is crushed shells. It was soft underfoot and didn't track into the tent, amazing stuff.

From our site, the kids kept a close eye on all catches being bought in for cleaning.

And were proud to clean their own catches!

Sunset over the fish cleaning station from our camper.

The local jetty. The kids fished here nightly hoping to catch squid on brightly coloured jigs. No luck unfortunately.

We were lucky to see a dugong grazing on the sea grass beds from the jetty. ( But not lucky enough to get a photo)

The pristine waters around Shark Bay were stunning.
