Desk Dreaming.

We have been planning a desk for the family room for a while now.  As always I turn to the magazines and net for ideas. We are limited for space as one day I hope to get a bigger dining table.

Here are some of the lovelies I came across.

Image 1.House and Garden (Australia) 2.Brian Vanden Brink 3.Anthony DiGregario Architects 4. This Old House 5 .Unknown. If anyone does know, please let me know so I can credit the person.

After much hunting we decided on this one. The man in the shop forgot to tell us it came flat packed and WE WOULD SPEND HOURS ASSEMBLING IT OURSELVES!

"Yeah right, part 600059A fits into part 100097B"

At this point we were seriously thinking we were building Apollo 13!

Master B was even allowed a turn with the big boy drill.

The finished product! For now. A few cabling issues, some desk accessories needed and perhaps a new chair! Yes definitely a new chair.

Saturday night drama.

After a busy fun Saturday cooking the most enormous pavlova you have ever seen. (You'll have to trust me I didn't take any photos). Ok it wasn't that big! And having a birthday party with friends we were woken by our dear neighbour at 4.20am by "my tree is on fire".

You have never seen us move so fast. Mr M had his overalls and fire boots on in record time and I am in public in my dressing gown. (probably upon reflection, not such a smart idea to fight fires in a polar fleece dressing gown). Mr M is dousing the tree with the hose. My neighbour is in shock. I grab buckets and start bossing the bystanders "come on people, don't just stand there start helping" I bark. I gather two fellas who could be described as "3 sheets to the wind" to fill buckets and start tipping them on the fence which by this stage is smouldering and starting to burn.

In what seemed like ages, but was actually only a couple of minutes, we had the fire out and the crowds, (would you believe there was a crowd at 4.30am?) melted away. It was then the 2 fire trucks, sirens blaring arrived.

Thankfully they doused the area and the fence just to be sure and we had a civilised cup of tea waiting for the police to arrive.  It seems someone on their way home from the pub had lit some "junk" mail and thrown it over the fence.

But there is a bright side and I am always looking for an excuse to redecorate (and encourage and help others to do so). So hopefully my neighbour will either have the fence repainted (and I love paint charts so I hope she asks me to help choose) or may even need a whole new fence.

Next Saturday night, just a glass of wine an early night and Easter Bunny will do:)

Exhibition success.

Well done Mr M. Your photo exhibition looks fantastic. A great recognition of your hard work.

I love your groupings, they look great on the painted wall. Spookily a similar colour to the outside of our house, which I of course love.
Who would have thought fairy grass could look so lovely and fluffy!

Each one was painstakingly applied to the sloping, curving, slighlty twisting wall.
One day when I can master it, I will try and make a slide show of some of the images.

These images and drawings are from the More Crop Weeds book.

Watch this space for more of the seed photos taken under the microscope. I find them fascinating and very aesthetically pleasing. I have plans that involve frames and white paint!

PJ Day Portrait

OK this is me having a PJ day, when I was obsessed, busy venturing into blogworld.
I particularly like my youthful skin and quirkly grin.
Nice one MissB!

Getting ready for "Science Art"/"Grey Matters"

Mr M has been asked to exhibit some photos for the "Art Is" festival this year. The theme of his exhibition is "Science Art", and is part of the "Grey Matters" program. He has spent hours trawling through literally 1000's of photos to seach out suitably scientific arty type photos.

Here is a quick peek, literally taken over his shoulder.

Clever, isn't he?
This really doesn't do them justice.

I found the seed photos particularly interesting. My mind has been shopping for some lovely white frames to put some of the photos in.

To check out the program and for more info. click this link Art is Wimmera festival. Under the program, M's bit is listed under Grey Matters.
The exhibition is on Sunday 21st March 2-4pm.

Perfect afternoon on the Glenelg River.

Here we are on the lovely Glenelg river. Kids, dogs and Kayaks, what could be more fun?

A peaceful cup of tea, with a delightful view.

A ramble round a great old homestead garden!

A perfect spot for a coffee for four.

A snooze on the way home for Master B.

Thanks L and J it was a lovely day!

The Journey Begins

This story starts at home with our family of 5 deciding to take a 12 week trip up the centre of Australia and down the West Coast. The great journey will begin in July and end in September (all going well). Our trusty trak shak camper trailer is being dusted off and spruced up as we speak. Considering the longest amount of time we have spent travelling and camping in the camper is about 3 weeks, it should be interesting!

To get into the blogging groove before we leave we have decided to start blogging about any old thing as a practice before the "real trip" begins.

Buckle up your seat belt and enjoy your journey with us:)
