chalkboard tray

Isn't this a ripper of an idea!
So simple.

So much fun.

As you know I am a huge fan of blackboards and have a couple hanging around.

There are a few variations around.

I am thinking of trying to make some fabric placemats and paint them with fabric blackboard paint.
Has anyone tried the paint?

    I finally got around to getting the paint and also getting the supplies to make my own colors of chalkboard paint but I'm such a procrastinator! I love the look and need to get it on some things - like the door in my kitchen that I said I would do about a month and a half ago. :>(

    I love this idea.. fab... I did have a can of chalkboard paint that I got a bit carried away with.. I painted one of those cheap art canvases.. looked good.. but I think the idea works better on hard surfaces... Although I haven't tried chalkboard paint for fabric... that could work..

    Hi deb, love this. I have tried chalkboard paint a few times, its great. You know, you can actually buy chalkboard fabric ; i have seen it on a few online fabric stores. Let me know if you would like me to check where it was I saw it!!

    I love this idea, Im think I might have to give it a go. we are having an 18th bday party in 2 weeks time for my eldest daughter & one of these would be very handy. Thanks for the inspiration!!

    I love the chalkboard tray..great idea! I haven't heard of chalkboard paint for fabric before..sounds very interesting. Can't wait to see what you do. X

    Love this idea! It may stop after dinner conversation of people asking which cheese is which but hey! then you could all move on to talk about the clever blackboard tray, hah

    What a fantastic tray! I love it! People are so creative chalkpaint! I made some place mats and a table runner out of chalk cloth and it is such fun, the kids love when I leave them messages! X

    I am loving the chalkboard stuff at the moment and I have an old chippy tray that I used chalkboard paint on, I love it! I haven't used the fabric paint but I am curious to know what it's like. xx
