Crikey, It's the jumping Crocs!

No trip up North with 3 kids would be complete without a Jumping Crocs cruise. If we weren't paranoid about Crocodiles before hand,  we were after!

Du dum (think Jaws music)
These Adelaide River crocs are conditioned to come out and jump for food when they hear the boat engine slow down.
They recognise the tour guides voices. The tour guides say they are dressed in khaki just in case they end up in the river. The tourists are usually in bright colours which the crocs love!

Mr M. has some far better pictures of the crocs jumping with the base of their tails out of the water but I can't figure out how to turn them because I haven't had my second cup of tea yet this morning!

At the end they feed the kestrals and whistling kites, it was very dramatic.

3 very happy and satisfied customers!

  1. Goodness! I would be concerned too! I must remember to wear khaki if I ever go near crocs! xx

  2. They are the most prehistoric of creatures aren't they? I find them absolutely terrifying...can't imagine what it would be like being that close! Bet the kids loved it :)

  3. The power of those jaws is amazing. Crocodiles really are a work of art, they haven't had to change much to survive over time. Must have had a great design to begin with. One of mother natures great masterpieces - not so much in the good looks department though!

  4. I agree AS not so great in the good looks. But, they say they use every single part of the croc when it is caught, even the blood which is used in medical research.
Newsflash!! Big boy just caught a bat fish at Broome and is very pleased with himself. I have to stop blogging by the sea to go back to camp to supervise the cooking of it.

  5. Brings back memories of the clouds of mozzies at daylight. Congrats Big boy, hope the bat fish was tasty. Darwin photos were also great, very Mindl market and sunset. We are enjoying the vicarious travel experience very much. Love you all to the moon and back. Don't let the bed bugs bite!

  6. I love that cruise! Did you see the old croc with 3 legs? I wonder if he's still there. They always made sure he got something to eat. Love the birds too. Rachaelxx

  7. Yes, we saw the 3 legged croc and there were quite a few with missing limbs. Apparantly limbs are nowhere as important as the tail. If something happens to that then the croc is in big trouble.
