Miss B's felt book cover tutorial

Hi, this is Miss B here, today I want to show you my
Felt book cover tutorial!!!!

You will need:
two pieces of felt
(one for the pockets and one for the cover)
sharp scissors
a button
some decorations, I chose felt butterflies from Spotlight.
photo album or note book.
thread and needle.
 and a sewing machine

First you will need to measure your first piece of felt around your book with one cm excess.(for the sewing)
Sizes may vary from book to book.

Next you will need to measure the pockets for the cover leave, about two or three cm  from the middle so you can slip the covers in nice and snugly.

Then cut your felt neatly.

And place your decorations where you plan them to be.

Chose your thread colour. I chose white.

Sew on decorations first.

Then sew on your pockets.

Cut all the excess off.

Hand stitch a beautiful button on.

Cut the button hole and..........

Viola!!!

Your felt book cover is complete.

I did this for my school passion project, I hope you liked it.
Good bye
From Miss B.

Maptastic

Lets go Moerkabout

I am a fan of vintage maps.
Up until 4.30pm yesterday, I didn't have any decorating my house.
That is until I whipped up this baby.

via skimbacohome

I often look at pictures like these and marvel at the colours.

It takes me back to my schools days.
Hours spent pouring over the Jacaranda Atlas..

Some of the colours are so pretty.

There is an easy to follow tutorial over here at Skimbaco showing you how to make the map vase.

You don't need a tutorial for my garland.

Just cut out a bunch of circles.

Whiz them up on your trusty sewing machine.

Wrap them around a globe like object. ( I will tell you more about the globe in a later post).

Or dangle them from your chalkboard.....

If you wouldn't mind popping back tomorrow.
Miss B is doing a special tutorial post for her school passion project.
She gets to make something,
tell us how she did it and then she will show the blog to her class on the electronic whiteboard.
How good is that!

I would really appreciate it if you could show her some blog love.

Trip Nostalgia

I've been feeling a bit nostalgic for our trip we did last year.
I have been pouring over blogs such as THE LONG LAP AROUND and Fox's Lane.
Both are families doing a similar trip to ours.

So I am subjecting you sharing with you some
of the photos.

Cable beach Broome.
I was in love with Broome, I could have stayed a month.
We were the ultimate tourists, heading off to Cable beach each evening to see the wonderful sunsets and camels trekking along the beach.

Devils Marbles, Northern Territory

After a very wet time in Alice Springs we loved the warmth and eerie magic of this place.

Monkey Mia was nothing like we expected.
The waters were calm and we enjoyed it.

Shark nursery at Coral Bay.
I loved Coral bay the best of all the places we went to.
Don't worry about the sharks.
They are just reef sharks.
The place was so stunning I forgot to take many photos. I was too busy chilling out.

Kings Park Perth.
What a magical spot,
and in a city.

That's just a little snippet.
Some of you were aboard the blog during the trip.
I can't tell you how much we appreciated your comments along the way.

Just like I appreciate your comments and input now.

I have been thinking about Christmas decorations and found a bit of inspiration.
I like the idea of using a garland to decorate presents and I quite fancy the fringed garland.

Hmm, food for thought.
I shall ponder and create something soon.
Do you do a little handmade at Christmas?
Somehow it just doesn't feel quite right if I don't make something.

Even if it is a little daggy.
It's the love you put in, the anticipation, the promise of good times to come.
Miss B is at the age of loving to make things with me.

It has spurred me on.
Create more.
Be more hands on.
Kids grow too quickly.

I just love this. the colours the canvas, the ampersand.

The mix of patterns and colour.
I wish I had that knack.

Perfect for pondering on over a cup of tea.

home part 4 - the end

Hi sorry I missed a day.
I had to pop down to Melbourne.
Sadly there was no shopping time but, I went to a very worthwhile forum.

Are you sighing over the loveliness of this kitchen?
I am.
And the blue and white china.
Very big sigh..

It gets really cold in Ballarat in Winter so this stove would be fabulous.

Well that is that for this beautiful house.
It just seems to be comfy and unpretentious.
A real family home.

I found it all on Homelife.
There are lots of interesting homes in the galleries over there.

Home part 3

Today is the day for the gorgeous bedrooms of this Ballarat home I am rather taken with.

I adore this colour scheme and boy oh boy, that spinning top brings back memories.

What pretty wallpaper and more framed vintage prints.

And the master bedroom.
Serene with a touch of colour that just blends nicely with the rest of the house.
Sigh...
Kitchen tomorrow.
